In 2018, I was part of the founding of the non profit organization, The Hunneebee Project, in partnership with a team at the Yale Childhood Study Center in New Haven, Connecticut. The HBP aims to introduce adolescents in foster care to beekeeping and fine art practice in a therapeutic context. We have since graduated eight cohorts from a fifteen week Beekeepers in Training program and educated over two thousand students and adults on the importance of pollinators. When the nonprofit first began, I lead the creative arts development side of the program: documenting the cohorts beekeeping practices and introducing youth in the program to photography, videography and other visual art practices from an educational and therapeutic angle.
