Havana, Cuba

This series investigates the adolescent experience and identity in the context of Cuba's educational system. In 2017, I lived in Havana, Cuba for a month conducting daily research in a secondary school in central Havana, exploring the question of how secondary schools, preparatory schools, technical schools and Universities influence student aspirations and expectations for their futures. These photographs are the visual component of a larger written ethnographic study, published by Belden Carlson in 2018, and since shown in a solo gallery show in Philadelphia, PA, published online internationally, and belonging to three private art collectors in New York City.
